New online energy website for The Seed Center will let community colleges across the USA collaborate on new energy initiatives.
Developing clean, sustainable sources of energy is one of the most pressing challenges facing our country – and the world – today. But a new web site designed and developed by Horizons Companies will allow students at hundreds of community colleges to work on addressing those challenges together. The web site is for The SEED Center – which is an acronym for Sustainability Education and Economic Development. The SEED Center is a leadership initiative, resource center and online sharing environment for community colleges to ramp up programs to educate America’s 21st century workforce and build the green economy.
The program is being co-sponsored by the American Association of Community Colleges and by ecoAmerica, and more than 300 colleges are already signed up to take part. It’s the first national initiative of its kind, and its goal is to help educate a workforce that can help America become a world leader in the green economy – and improve our competitive position in the fields of renewable energy, energy efficiency, green building and sustainability.
The initiative held its nationwide launch on October 11, 2010, with an initial level of participation that far exceeded expectations.
